Background Knowledge:What Requirements Do We Have For The Rotary Face And Stationary Seat Of Mechanical Seals
The seal ring is the general name of the rotary face ring and the stationary seat ring (the same below) and is the most important component of the mechanical seal. The seal ring largely determines the service performance and life of the mechanical seal. Therefore, it puts forward some requirements for it.

Requirement 1:Has sufficient strength and stiffness
Under working conditions (such as pressure, temperature and sliding speed, etc.), the deformation should be as small as possible, and the sealing performance can still be maintained when the working conditions fluctuate. In particular, the sealing face should have sufficient strength and a certain degree of corrosion resistance to ensure that the product has a satisfactory service life.
Requirement 2:Has good thermal shock resistance
For this reason, it is required that the material have a high thermal conductivity and a small linear expansion coefficient, and should not crack when subjected to thermal shock.
Requirement 3:Small coefficient of friction
Matching the seal ring should have a small coefficient of friction.
Requirement 4:Good self-lubrication
If dry friction occurs for a short period of time during operation, the sealing face is not damaged. Therefore, the seal ring must have good self-lubricity, and the seal ring material and the seal fluid must have good wettability.
Requirement 5:Simple structure
The structure of the seal ring should be simple and symmetrical. Priority should be given to the integral type structure. A combined type (eg, insert type) seal ring can also be used to avoid the use of a sealed end spray structure.
Requirement 6: Sealing rings are easy to manufacture
Installation and maintenance should be convenient and the price should be low.
